Other Useful and Interesting Stuff:

  • Burgees Lists of best burgees, oldest American yacht clubs, Yacht clubs, maritime museums - hasn't been updated in years, and the Bay View isn't in the "best" list, but kind of fun

  • Daily International Vessel Casualties and Pirate Reports Just what it sounds like - plus shipwreck, disappearances, and piracy reports going back the the early 1700's. As an extra added feature, you can also listen to "Strangers on my Flight", a rather clever takeoff of Sinatra's "Strangers in the Night" which appeared after the 9/11 highjackings. Pretty eclectic, to say the least. The webmaster seems to be undecided on whether the plural of "loss" is spelled "losses" or "looses", probably why the site features "Vessel Casualities", thereby eliminating the confusion in spelling, at least on the home page.

  • The Glacier Society Uniting Polar Interests Around the Globe The Glacier Society is a non-profit 501-(c)3 Educational Foundation based in Bridgeport, Conn., dedicated to uniting polar interests around the globe through restoration and operation of the USS/USCGC Glacier, the largest icebreaker of her time.
